Description
Really experience Tuscany!
Slow down, and enjoy an unforgettable bike ride through the Tuscan countryside. Let the cool breeze open your senses, enjoy the scents of nature as you ride through olive groves and vineyards. And discover a world of traditional tastes and flavour experiences.
Enjoy a small-group exclusive wine tour, riding a bike through the gentle hills of Chianti wine region.
Your professionally guided wine tour begins with the comfortable shuttle transport out of the busy city center of Florence. After about 25 minutes, you’ll reach an elegant villa from the Renaissance - the starting point for your bike ride.
Time for your bike ride - your tour guide will lead you along scenic country roads that wind their way through ancient olive groves and lovingly tended vineyards, through the heart of Tuscany.
Of course, several stops for photo opportunities will be made along the way.
You will visit two very different wineries - one is a famous winery that produces some of the most renowned wines and is headquartered in a beautiful Renaissance Villa and applies the most modern techniques despite its longstanding history. The other winery is a family-run organic farm and winery that approaches wine-making from the point of view of sustainability paired with the great traditions of manual labour in a fully organic production process.
Learn about techniques of production, ageing, storing and bottling wine as well as olive oil.
Once back at the Renaissance Villa, you will enjoy a traditional Tuscan lunch in its 1000-year-old cellar, at the “enoteca” (wine bar), tasting the wines of the wineries you just visited (both wineries enjoy international recognition and boast awards), and learn about wine pairing.
About the bike ride:
The bike itinerary includes flat, downhill, and uphill sections, to give you a complete variety of views and biking experiences.
Since a van always is following the group, you can decide yourself how you want to approach the biking part of this experience. If you feel fit enough, you can join it as an intermediate level bike ride, with some interesting uphill sections. If you want to join it in a more relaxed mode, you can still enjoy most of the biking itinerary (just the flat and downhill sections), relying on the van assistance for the couple of short uphill parts.
Terrain: Mostly paved back roads with very little traffic
Difficulty: INTERMEDIATE (can be done in EASY MODE, mostly downhill, using the minivan support to help in the few short uphill sections)
