Description

Built by order of Carlo Emanuele II in the mid-seventeenth century as a hunting lodge, the Royal Palace of Venaria is a magnificent example of Baroque art immersed in the beautiful setting of its namesake village and French gardens. The architects, who contributed to the creation of this jewel - declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO - during two centuries have all left their mark: from the original villa of the Italian Amedeo di Castellamonte, to Juvarra's so-called "architecture made of light."

The Venaria Reale is located 40 minutes by bus from the center of Turin. The tour of the palace, gardens and temporary exhibits takes three and a half hours. The picturesque and welcoming village of Venaria at the entrance of the Palace grounds offers restaurants and shops overlooking the pedestrian street, perfect for lunch or dinner at Venaria, before or after your visit. In addition, gourmet lovers can find the restaurant "Dolce Stil Novo" inside the Palace, serving traditional Piedmont cuisine in an elegant ambiance.
