Assisi, a small Umbrian town in central Italy, is best known as the birthplace of St. Francis – patron saint of Italy, founder of the Franciscan order, and one of the most popular Catholic saints in history.

Assisi’s main attraction is the 13th-century Basilica of St. Francis which contains the sacred relics of Francis and beautiful frescoes of his life. And there are at least seven other churches well worth visiting for their history, beauty, and connection with Francis or his friend Clare. The Assisi Tour allows you to winding medieval streets and sacred shrines, has been a major Catholic pilgrimage destination for centuries and is today one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy.

Although the town has only about 26,000 inhabitants, 4 to 5 million visitors throng the small town each year. As would be expected, the city has become a bit “touristy” in the process – but its many great sites make it very much worth seeing nevertheless.The tour usually starts at 7:00 am. The driver will meet you right at the hotel lobby or at the address you mentioned by you on the confirmation form.

The drive will be about 2/h north of Rome. Once arrived you will either meet a Private local Guide who will go off with you on a 3/h walking tour in order to help you skip lines and give you all the historical information regarding the beautiful highlights of Assisi like the Basilica of San Francesco, Santa Maria degli Angeli. If you did not book a guide you will have that time to visit the city on your own using all the info and instructions given to you by your driver. Return time to Rome is scheduled at 4PM, hoping you enjoyed the time you’ve spent with us.
