Beschreibung
Your tour begins with a short bus drive to Piazza Venezia, where the monumental complex built in 1911 and dedicated to King Victor Emmanuel II is situated. Your tour will continue on foot from here, to the Capitoline Hill square designed by Michelangelo, where you will have a fantastic view of the Roman Forum, the ancient Roman political center during the Republican and Imperial period. Within these splendid basilicas, temples and triumphal arcs, the major events that made Rome the most important civilization in the Mediterranean area during the first centuries A.D. took place.
Then, your bus will take you to the Circus Maximus, where chariot races took place during the ancient Roman period, and to the Aventine Hill. We will stop to admire the beautiful statue of Moses by Michelangelo, located in the Church of St. Peter's in Chains (San Pietro in Vincoli) from where it will take us 5 minutes to reach the symbol of the eternal city - the Colosseum, built during the Flavian dynasty. This famous ancient amphitheater - which hosted monumental shows featuring gladiators, wild animals, and even sea battles - could seat up to 50.000 people.
